Kent graduated from The American University, Washington, DC, in 1969, with a BS in Business Administration, majoring in ADP Systems. Immediately after graduating, he worked as a Systems Analyst for IBM and the US Army while serving on active duty. Kent then spent over 30 years as a public servant managing information technology services within several federal agencies, the last 20 years with the U. S. Department of Education, before retiring in 2001. In 1975, Kent started vacationing in Rehoboth Beach. Kent, his wife Mary, and son Kevin, moved to Rehoboth in 2002.
Shortly after retiring, Kent began his experience with the real estate profession by providing technology support to an Associate Broker, marketing high-end resort properties in Bethany Beach, ensuring quality, timely services were provided to her clients. This experience led to being hired by Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty in 2003, as a Sales Analyst. Kent provides technology support to management and Realtors®, with the goal of continually improving Ocean Atlantic Sotheby's sales efforts and services provided. Support includes: developing market analyses; agent/company marketing efforts; training/advising agents in utilizing real estate technology tools; develop office electronic documents; e-newsletters; and respond to reporters, outside inquiries regarding our market. Kent has also authored several articles on our real estate market published in the Cape Gazette and, for over 8 years, has been a contributor to Delaware Beach Life’s annual October reports on the status of Coastal Delaware’s real estate market.
