Local firm offers renewable energy for residential, commercial properties

Dewey Beach business owners Gary and Ava Cannon just purchased a solar energy system for their personal residence.

Delaware Renewable Energy Co. recently completed another successful solar panel installation on a local residential property. As a part of Ocean Atlantic Cos., Delaware Renewable Energy Co. was founded in response to the growing demand for alternative energy sources to help preserve the environment and, in short, change the way power is made.

The company's mission includes providing consumers with simple, cost effective mechanisms for utilizing renewable energy within their homes and businesses, primarily through solar panels and wind generators. The company offers a variety of environmentally sensitive methods for providing energy by making use of abundant natural resources such as the wind and the sun. By installing solar or wind energy systems, homeowners are ultimately producing their own power, saving money, receiving tax benefits and helping preserve the environment for generations to come. It has completed installations in neighborhoods including Pine Bay, Bay Harbor and Silver Lake. It also has several commercial properties scheduled for installations within the coming months.

Delaware Renewable Energy Co. also has plans to partner with many of Ocean Atlantic's newest communities to offer solar and wind energy systems as part of its upgrade packages, making it easy for new residents to go renewable.

"One major question that we face on a regular basis is whether or not purchasing a renewable energy system makes economic sense," said Jason Topercer, cofounder of Delaware Renewable Energy Co. " When you review the various tax breaks, rebate programs, credits and government assistance programs available for those purchasing a renewable energy system, it makes financial sense to go green or go renewable as we like to call it."

Gary and Ava Cannon, owner of Gary's Dewey Beach Grill, just purchased a system for their personal residence. "Going solar not only helps the environment, it is a smart investment. Delaware Renewable Energy Co. made the process so simple, they are the way to go solar," said Gary Cannon.
